The exhibition "Stories of Ropes and Lifts" will be held until 4 September in the halls of the Bill intermediate station of the Macugnaga - Passo Moro cable car.

An excursus to discover the world of lifts, a look at the world of travel on ropes, from freight transport to transporting people, and a focus on the reality of Macugnaga and the driving role that the lifts have had over the years in this community alpine.
The exhibition, free of charge (except for the cost of the cable car if you decide to go up to Alpe Bill with the lift), opens with an overview of the world of cable transport, the most spectacular systems of the early twentieth century and then focuses on on the Piedmontese ones of the first half of the twentieth century and then leave room for the slopes of Macugnaga. And so the story unfolds between the Rosareccio cableways, the Pecetto-Belvedere single-seaters and the Monte Moro cableways. Along this story, the fundamental role that the plants have played in this locality emerges clearly, becoming not a mere element of transport or entertainment but an aggregator, an element of tourist development and opening towards a new form of tourism. Numerous objects on display ranging from towing of ski lifts to cast heads or specific equipment of this world.
This project, which involved the entire community of Macugnaga in recovering the memory of the past and objects of the past to be restored to light, was born from the collaboration between the Macugnaga-based MTS scrl, whose partners have been moving the ski lifts of Macugnaga, the Turin-based Sateco srl, specialized in safety checks of ski lifts with the support of the skills and the archive of Originalmente srl.

Mottarone
Il Mottarone, alto 1.492 metri, sorge in una posizione privilegiata tra il Lago Maggiore e il Lago d’Orta. La sua vetta arrotondata è uno dei balconi panoramici più spettacolari del Piemonte: nelle giornate limpide lo sguardo abbraccia sette laghi, la Pianura Padana e gran parte dell’arco alpino, dal Monviso al Monte Rosa fino alle montagne svizzere. Questa cornice, più che le dimensioni del comprensorio, rappresenta il vero elemento distintivo della località.
