Monte Pora

The ski area is separate from that of Passo della Presolana and extends between approximately 1,380 and 1,880 metres in altitude. The resort offers 20 km of alpine skiing pistes, spread across the Malga Pora, Pian del Termen, Cima Pora, Valzelli and Pian dell’Asen sectors. All the pistes are linked ski-to-ski, and the compact layout makes it easy to explore the entire area.

Monte Pora’s terrain is particularly suitable for families and intermediate skiers. Beginners will find nursery slopes served by magic carpets and wide pistes where they can learn in peace, while the many red runs offer consistent gradients, plenty of space for carving turns and very enjoyable terrain for carving.

There are also some more challenging options. The Valzelli black run, homologated by FISI, includes the well-known Muro del Varone and is the benchmark run for more experienced skiers. Other technical slopes are used for training and competitions, confirming a sporting vocation alongside its more distinctly family-oriented character.

The lifts include the Termen and Cima Pora four-seater chairlifts, the Valzelli two-seater chairlift, the Magnolini surface lift, the Pian dell’Asen surface lifts and two magic carpets. The chairlifts are fixed-grip and cannot be considered particularly fast or state-of-the-art, but the network is functional for the size of the ski area. In recent years, the resort has launched an investment programme focused on maintaining and modernising the lifts, including the replacement of the Magnolini surface lift.

Artificial snowmaking covers much of the terrain and is particularly important given the relatively low altitude and good sun exposure. The pistes, mostly open and free of vegetation in the upper sections, allow skiing in the sun for much of the day; in windy or low-visibility conditions, however, they may be more exposed than resorts located entirely in the forest.

Monte Pora has also expanded the services available to skiers, with new refreshment points, a large rental centre at the bottom of the Cima Pora chairlift, and mountain huts and refuges distributed across the various sectors. On certain dates during the season, night skiing is also offered, allowing visitors to extend their day on the floodlit pistes.

Monte Pora is recommended for those looking for a varied and accessible day of skiing without having to make long journeys to alpine resorts. It does not offer the extensive vertical drops or fast lifts found at more modern resorts, but combines wide pistes, impressive views, generally affordable prices and a welcoming atmosphere, making it particularly suitable for families and skiers from the provinces of Bergamo, Brescia and Milan.
