On Wednesday, July 19, work has begun for the construction of the new Alagna automatic four-lined chair lift that will connect Cimalegna (2,650 meters high) to the Passo dei Salati (3,030 meters).

The new plant, which will be built by Doppelmayr for a cost of 7 million euros, can carry 1800 people per hour and will be equipped with domes for wind and snow coverage. All the skiers who will climb on the funicular to Pianalunga will have to go down to Cimalegna and change the facility to make the last stretch.
"The plant is the result of a long and painstaking work of technical design and ecological, environmental and urban compatibility," said Luciano Zanetta, President of Monterosa 2000, and is the protagonist of our industrial plan. The construction will increase the reach of the Alagna-Passo dei Salati line with the consequent facilitation of access to the Monterosa Ski area by the Piedmont port. It will also ensure optimal management of the Cimalegna slopes. The work is the result of a huge commitment by Monterosa 2000, the Region, the Municipalities of Alagna and Riva Valdobbia to improve the skiing offer and to stimulate the tourist system of the valley. "
The chairlift should be ready for next winter season.

Argentera si trova nell’alta Valle Stura, a pochi chilometri dal Colle della Maddalena e dal confine francese, in uno degli ambienti più appartati e selvaggi delle Alpi Marittime. Il comprensorio si sviluppa sopra la frazione di Bersezio, tra circa 1.630 e 2.500 metri di quota, in un paesaggio di lariceti e pendii d’alta montagna dominato dall’Oserot e dalla Rocca dei Tre Vescovi.
