San Giacomo di Roburent

In its complete configuration, the San Giacomo-Cardini area offers 35 km of alpine ski runs, according to the official website. The ski domain is divided into the Bric Colmé sector, closer to the village, and Monte Alpet-Cardini. The runs are varied and particularly suitable for families and intermediate skiers; however, there are also red and black runs, changes in gradient and technical descents capable of entertaining more experienced skiers. The most representative run is the long Pistone del Monte Alpet, which descends for approximately 3.5 km from the upper part of the ski area and covers almost the entire vertical drop of the resort.

Beginners have a dedicated area at altitude, with the Alpet Kids ski school area, magic carpets and blue runs, as well as the Giardina ski school area in the centre of San Giacomo, separate from the rest of the ski area. The offering is completed by a ski school, rental facilities and refreshment points, while the compact size, generally affordable prices and informal atmosphere make the resort suitable for days in the snow with children and for those who prefer less sprawling ski areas.

In its complete configuration, the ski area has two chairlifts, six ski lifts and one magic carpet. The lifts are mostly traditional and not particularly fast: this is one of the resort’s limitations, but it also helps preserve its character as a local, family-friendly ski area. The relatively low maximum altitude also makes opening dependent on snowfall and temperatures, despite the presence of snowmaking on some key sectors.

The figure of 35 km refers to the fully operational ski area. In the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 seasons, the Bric Colmé sector, including the Colmé chairlift and the Pineta and Sapel ski lifts, remained closed due to the serious damage caused by the fire in August 2024. Skiing was therefore concentrated in the Monte Alpet-Cardini area, with approximately 20 km of available runs, and at the Giardina ski school area. In 2026, work began to restore the chairlift and the Colmé area; before setting out, it is therefore advisable to check the ski area’s website for the lifts and sectors that are actually open.

San Giacomo is also of interest to those who enjoy ski touring and snowshoeing: routes towards Monte Alpet, Bric Colmé and the peaks of the Monregalese Alps start from the village and the Cardini area. Outside controlled ski runs, experience, suitable equipment and careful assessment of snow conditions are naturally required.

In summer, the area is well suited to hiking, mountain biking and e-biking, with routes through woods, hamlets and open viewpoints over the plain. Monte Alpet is also known for its bike activities, while horse riding, trail running and other outdoor sports can be enjoyed in the surrounding area. San Giacomo thus retains the identity of a small holiday resort that is active in every season, particularly suited to families and those looking for a simple, authentic mountain experience.
