A drama for an entire family, the family of Deborah Compagnoni who today lost her brother Jacopo.
Jacopo Compagnoni died at the age of 40 after being overwhelmed by an avalanche: the tragedy occurred in the late morning, while he was practicing ski mountaineering on his mountains, those of Valfurva. The Alpine Rescue of Lombardy made it known that Jacopo was descending from the north channel of Monte Sobretta, at an altitude of 2850 meters.
The friend with whom he was staying remained unharmed and immediately alerted the emergency services; the helicopter rescue of the regional emergency agency of Sondrio intervened with utmost urgency, the teams from the Valfurva station of the VII Valtellina-Valchiavenna Delegation of the Cnsas (National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps) and of the Sagf (Rescue alpine Guardia di Finanza), as well as an avalanche dog unit.
The 40-year-old was identified and extracted from the snow, then transported to the Sondalo hospital where Jacopo, unfortunately, had already arrived in desperate conditions: his death occurred a few minutes later.
