Tarvisio

The ski area offers 24 km of alpine ski slopes, extending from the 754-metre valley floor to the 1,756-metre Monte Lussari, for a maximum vertical drop of more than 1,000 metres. Artificial snowmaking covers the entire skiable network and helps to partly offset the resort’s relatively low altitude.

The ski area comprises two main sectors, Monte Lussari and Monte Florianca, linked by slopes and lifts. The system is served by 10 lifts, plus three moving carpets. The main routes are served by the Lussari gondola and fast chairlifts, while some secondary lifts belong to different generations.

The symbol of Tarvisio is the Di Prampero piste, a long and spectacular descent that starts near the Monte Lussari village and reaches Camporosso after approximately four kilometres. The route alternates technical pitches, changes in gradient and sections through the forest, and has also been used for international alpine skiing competitions. It is a challenging and complete piste, particularly suited to skiers with a good technical level.

At the start of the Di Prampero is the Monte Lussari village, clustered around the famous sanctuary and accessible by gondola from Camporosso. Its panoramic position, overlooking the Julian Alps and the mountains of the three-border area, makes it one of the most distinctive features of the entire ski area.

The Florianca sector offers more varied and generally less demanding slopes, with numerous intermediate runs and trails also suitable for families. The Duca d’Aosta, Priesnig and Florianca areas make it possible to alternate wide pistes with sections through the forest, while the beginner areas and moving carpets provide dedicated spaces for beginners and children.

Tarvisio is therefore suited to intermediate and expert skiers, who can appreciate the vertical drop, the variety of terrain and, above all, the Di Prampero. The easy slopes and learning areas also allow beginners to take their first steps, but the layout of the ski area and some of the connections require a certain amount of care from those who are not yet fully confident on skis.

The offering for cross-country skiing is particularly important: the area has a total of 55 km of trails, 7.5 km of which are equipped with artificial snowmaking. The main reference point is the Arena Gabriella Paruzzi, on the outskirts of Tarvisio, complemented by routes immersed in the natural surroundings of Val Saisera and the Laghi di Fusine area. Snowshoeing, ski touring and walks through the forest complete the winter offering.

In summer, Tarvisio becomes a particularly comprehensive destination for hiking and cycling. The gondola provides access to Monte Lussari and panoramic trails towards Cima del Cacciatore, while in the valley the Alpe Adria Cycle Route crosses the area, partly following the route of the former railway. The Laghi di Fusine, Val Saisera, Orrido dello Slizza and Tarvisio Forest further expand the possibilities for those seeking nature, trekking and outdoor activities.
