Thirteen years after Omar Visintin's gold in Nagano 2009, a medal arrives for men's Italy in snowboard cross at the junior world championship level. In Veysonnaz, the nineteen year old Niccolò Colturi, already on the podium this season in the European Cup (and called several times in the World Cup), is placed second in the big final won by the German Leon Ulbricht, who saw the '' another German Niels Conradt in third place and the Spanish Alvaro Romero fourth.
The order of arrival also recorded the thirteenth place of Luca Abbati, eliminated in the quarter-finals, while Federico Podda and Tommaso Fonte went out in the first round. In the women's field, the French flag waves on the top step of the podium with Zoe Colombier, who preceded the American Brianna Schnorrbusch and the other transalpine Anna Valentin. Out in the quarterfinals Marika Savoldelli and Camilla Angiolini, Sofia Groblechner did not play.
The blue Mike Santuari, on the other hand, finished at the foot of the podium the parallel snowboard giant that today opened the Junior World Championships in Chiesa Valmalenco. The 17-year-old carabiniere saw the bronze escape in the small final, in which he faced Korean Junho Ma. Canadian Ben Heldman won the youth world title thanks to his victory in the big final, defeating the German Max Kuehnhauser.
Among the other blues in the race, Elias Zimmerhofer finished in twelfth position, with Fabian Lantschner and Tommaso Da Col more late in 26th and 29th position. In the women's field Tsubaki Miki has imposed herself as the favorite of the eve, with the 18-year-old Japanese, already a regular presence in the uptowns in the World Cup, who bent the competition of the South Korean Seo Hee Jang and in third place she concluded the Swiss Flurina Baetschi. Sofia Valle was the best of the Italians with her 14th place, while Elisa Fava finished in 19th position, Sophie Rabanser 28th and Fabiana Fachin 30th.
