From Nayeli Mariotti Cavagnet to Manuel Contoz and Magalì Miraglio Mellano, all the young winners at the Italian summer biathlon championships

Following the senior event held at the end of August in Val Martello, the Italian summer biathlon championships featured a weekend dedicated to the youngest athletes, in an event hosted in Forni Avoltri, with the races also counting toward the Italian Cup.

In the heart of Carnia, the event began with Saturday’s Short Individuals, and the junior women’s race was dominated by Nayeli Mariotti Cavagnet, who was once again the absolute star of the Italian championships, beating Fabiola Miraglio Mellano and Denise Maestri. The same podium was repeated this morning in the Sprint.

Among the Youth, Lucia Brocchiero edged out Magalì Miraglio Mellano and Viola Camperi in the first race on the Carnia Arena course. In the Sprint, the positions were reversed, with “MMM” beating Camperi and Brocchiero, who this time had to settle for bronze.

Finally, in the Aspirants category, Elena Carletto completed a personal double: she finished ahead of Benedetta Bracchi and Kathrina Santer in the Short Individual, while in today’s event Eva Hilber took silver and Giada Grosso the bronze medal.

In Saturday’s men’s junior race, Manuel Contoz finished ahead of Andrea Da Corte Vecchino and Hannes Bacher, with the Valle d’Aosta athlete repeating the feat today, ahead of Bacher and Filippo Massimino.

Youth category: Walter Landry won the Short Individual ahead of Julian Huber and Andreas Braunhofer, while in the Sprint Huber triumphed ahead of Jacopo Piasco and Jonas Tscholl. Finally, in the Aspirants category, Nicolò Pedranzini won on Saturday ahead of Gabriele Carrara and Matteo Spechenhauser, while this Sunday’s “short” race went to Carrara, with Nicolò Pedranzini second and Tiago Ghibaudo third.
