Biathlon: Norwegian Laegreid blows the bank in the opening of Kontiolahti

The Individual who opens the Men's Biathlon World Cup gives the first career victory to the 23-year-old Norwegian Sturla Holm Laegreid who, thanks to a 20/20 shot, burns the highly anticipated Johannes Thingnes Boe.

The holder of the World Cup, rather errant in shooting in the zeroing phase, pays an error at the first range while putting yet another best time on skis in the game bag to close at 19.6 seconds behind his teammate having to settle for second place. The rest of the world closes the race more than a minute behind the leaders. The third step of the podium goes to the German Erik Lesser (0-1-0-0) who in the last lap recovers 12 seconds to the French Quentin Fillon Maillet (0-1-0-0) and 25 to the stainless Ondrej Moravec (0 -0-0-0) and closes at 1.03.6 from Laegreid, preceding the transalpine by 2 seconds and the Czech by 3. Sixth place, at 1.31.8, goes to the Swedish Samuelsson (1-1-0-0) who, with the third time on skis, precedes Jakov Fak (0-0-0-1) by just two tenths of a second, seventh. Updates follow
