Biathlon: Johannes Boe very pokerissimo of Sprint in Pokljuka, a sparkling Giacomel is sixth

Here comes the fifth consecutive victory in a Sprint, the fourth in the season for Johannes Thingnes Boe in the race where Giacomel sits among the greats despite two mistakes at the shooting range standing up.

Like yesterday, the sun greets the return of the men's Biathlon World Cup in Pokljuka after the Christmas break with a Sprint but the panettone hasn't changed the values on the field. An unplayable Johannes Boe (1-0) still imposes himself, and starting from the Beijing Olympics it continues to happen in the 10 kilometres, who, despite a mistake on the ground, dominates for his part by trimming almost a minute on the second classified, an entirely constructed advantage on narrow skis where the closest, Christiansen, makes him 42 seconds and the third fastest, Tommaso Giacomel, a good 52 seconds. The runner-up, as usual, is his brother Tarjei Boe (0-0) who takes the first podium of the season at 48.1 seconds while the Norwegian hat-trick is sealed by Sturla Holm Laegreid (1-0) at 55.6. The German Benedikt Doll (0-1) is already over the minute, at 1.03.3, while the Czech Michal Krcmar (0-0) closes in fifth position at 1.03.9. Tommaso Giacomel (0-2) impresses on narrow skis and only the two standing errors prevent him from getting on the podium and force him to equal sixth place, at 1.09.5, of the best result in the World Cup. Pursuit of Hochfilzen while the boy from Imer in the 10 km had never entered the top ten. The Russian with Korean passport Timofei Lapshin (0-0) closes in seventh position, at 1.17.3, ahead of Roman Rees (0-1), eighth at 1.17.9. Ninth place for Quentin Fillon Maillet (0-1) at 1.21.2 and tenth position for Antonin Guigonnat (1-0) at 1.37.7. Vetle Christiansen entered the second polygon ahead of Johannes Boe throws everything away with three errors that relegate him to 1.32.8, in thirteenth position.
