The Sprint of surprises at Le Grand Bornand celebrates a one-two finish by the two least anticipated Swedes while Elvira Oeberg has to settle for seventh place and her sister Hanna for twentieth. Dorothea Wierer is thirteenth with a gap of 49 seconds which keeps her in the race for the Pursuit in which Comola and Auchentaller also qualified.

With weather conditions improving compared to yesterday's men's race, the sun is also expected for tomorrow, the third women's Sprint of the season will be aired at Le Grand Bornand. Despite the absence of wind, the shooting range is a factor and at the end of the competitions there are very few biathletes who have achieved 100% in the scheduled 10 shots.
The Swede Anna Magnusson (0-0) takes advantage of the situation, and a track that has seemed to speed up with the passing of time, in her first victory in a career where she had never gone beyond seventh place in the Olympic Sprint in Beijing and in the Anterselva Mass Start in 2017. The twenty-seven year old from Ostersund, also thanks to an exceptional third lap, arrives at the finish line 12.8 seconds ahead of her compatriot Linn Persson (0-1) who crowns a great start with the best result in her career season.
Despite the best time on skis, the German Denise Herrmann (1-0) has to settle for third place after the victory in Hochfilzen 15.2 seconds behind the winner. At the fifth start in the World Cup, the twenty-four year old French Sophie Chauveau (0-0) is fourth at 19.9 and precedes the Finnish Mari Eder (0-1), fifth at 21.3
A good Lisa Vittozzi (0-0) closes in sixth position, solid at shooting not very fast on skis where she pays Herrmann about forty seconds. The Slovak Paulina Fialkova (0-1), now married to Batovska, closes in seventh place at 33.4 and precedes Elvira Oeberg (0-1) by 2 tenths, eighth at 33.6. Ninth was the French Lou Jeanmonnot (0-0) in the first place among the top ten and tenth Anais Chevalier (0-1) at 36.8.
Dorothea Wierer (0-1) goes all-in at the polygons, obtaining the second range time preceded only by the usual Rebecca Passler, but misses the last target standing and closes in thirteenth position at 48.7. The World Cup leader Julia Simon (0-2) misses twice, closing 49.2 behind the winner.
Among the blues, Samuela Comola (0-1), forty-fourth at 1.40.9, and the twenty-year-old Hannah Auchentaller (0-0) forty-seventh at 1.45.8 also qualify for the Pursuit, without entering the points zone. Setback at the shooting range for Rebecca Passler (2-1) at 2.47.6.
