Biathlon: nine Azzurri for the third stage of the World Cup, starting on Thursday. The South Tyrolean didn't make it like Braunhofer, there will be only four men at the start. Lukas Hofer has to give up on his seasonal debut and will not be in the game even at Le Grand-Bornand.
This is the news that emerges from the blue calls for the last World Cup appointment for 2022 of the great biathlon, with the menu offering, from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 December, two sprints, two pursuits and two mass starts . Compared to last weekend in Austria, Daniele Cappellari and Michela Carrara are also out, diverted to the IBU Cup, while they return to the top circuit after a year, a choice that seemed natural after the good performances in the second most important circuit, Hannah Auchentaller.
The young blue will therefore be alongside Lisa Vittozzi, who arrives in France as third in the general classification of the cup, Dorothea Wierer, Rebecca Passler and Samuela Comola.
The men's team will count on only four elements, namely Tommaso Giacomel, amazing in the last two races in Hochfilzen, Didier Bionaz, David Zingerle and the confirmation, for the second consecutive stage of CdM after his debut, of Daniele Fauner.
Technical director Klaus Hoellrigl has also defined the squad for the home appointment for the IBU Cup: again from Thursday to Sunday in Val Ridanna. On the snow in South Tyrol we will therefore see Michela Carrara, Eleonora Fauner, Sara Scattolo, Beatrice Trabucchi, Martina Trabucchi, Daniele Cappellari, Cedric Christille, Iacopo Leonesio, Michele Molinari, Nicola Romanin, Elia Zeni and Federica Sanfilippo, who in her home races will try to demonstrate be able to win a bib in CdM in 2023.
In Obertilliach, for the stage of the IBU Cup junior, there are 13 other Azzurri: Astrid Plosch, Ilaria Scattolo, Fabiana Carpella, Linda Zingerle, Denise Planker, Gaia Brunello, Birgit Schoelzhorn, Marco Barale, Nicolò Betemps, Christoph Pircher, Felix Ratschiller, Thomas Daziano and Stefano Canavese.
