Another great performance by the Norwegian in the best season of his career as Quentin Fillon Maillet, second, secures the crystal ball with a stage to spare. Lukas Hofer still placed and good debut for Giacomel twenty-first despite three errors at the first polygon.

Clear day with sun and winds almost absent like Thursday for the men's Mass Start in Otepää.
Emilien Jacquelin goes to the attack in the second part of the first lap but it is nothing more than a show of strength soon canceled by the opponents led by the Norwegian Christiansen. There are nineteen 5/5 at the first polygon and among them is Lukas Hofer; an error for Tarjei Boe and Bormolini, two penalty laps for Laegreid, Ponsiluoma, Nawrath while Giacomel's errors are three.
At the start of the second shooting session there are still 17 biathletes in 6 seconds and 12 come out unscathed including the Norwegians Bakken, Christiansen, Andersen, the French Fillon Maillet, Guigonnat, Jacquelin, the Germans Doll, Lesser, Lukas Hofer , Samuelsson and the Swiss Weger. Bormolini is not wrong and finds himself with Tarjei Boe at 38 seconds and also Giacomel's 5/5 arrives.
In the third lap Weger does not keep up with the pace set by Quentin Fillon Maillet who forces the platoon to proceed in single file.
The standing shooting range begins to skim the situation: Jacquelin, Christiansen and Guigonnat are not wrong; a mistake for Fillon Maillet, Hofer, Bakken, Samuelsson, Andersen and Lesser with a gap of between 20 and 25 seconds. Bormolini is not wrong and finds himself with Doll, Desthouex and Boe in about fifty seconds. Five out of five also for Tommaso Giacomel who climbs back to twenty-fifth position at 1.46.5.
Christiansen attacks in the fourth lap while Guigonnat gives ground reabsorbed by Fillon Maillet and Lukas Hofer. The Norwegian shows up at the last shooting range with 12 seconds over the others. He made no mistake and kept a 7-second advantage over Fillon Maillet at the exit; Bakken and Guigonnat are at 16 seconds, Lesser at 25 and Hofer with an error in seventh position at 32.7, 16 seconds from the podium.
In the last lap Quentin Fillon Maillet tries the comeback and not even Bakken gives up; Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen (0-0-0-0) wins his first career victory in a Mass Start, format in which he won the Bronze medal in Beijing, and at the finish he keeps 5.9 seconds ahead of Fillon Maillet (0-0 -1-0) and 15.5 on compatriot Bakken (0-0-1-0) on the first podium in his career. Fourth position for Guigonnat (0-0-0-0) at 30.5, fifth Lesser (0-0-1-0) at 38.6 and sixth Lukas Hofer (0-0-1-1) at 46.4. At 49.9 Filip Fjeld Andersen (0-0-1-1) is seventh ahead of Jacquelin (0-0-0-1) at 52.5, Samuelsson (0-0-1-0) at 55.7 and 10th Laegreid (2-1) -0-0) at 1.01.9.
Thomas Bormolini (1-0-0-2) is nineteenth at 2.16.6 while Tommaso Giacomel (3-0-0-0) at 2.29.4 is twenty-first on his debut in a Mass Start.
