Biathlon: Norway wins the Scandinavian derby in the Women's Relay

Thanks to a last anthology gallery, the Norwegian Marte Olsbu Røiseland has overtaken the Swedish Öberg, flying towards the gold. Silver to Sweden, bronze to the surprising Ukraine.

At the launch, Italy deployed Lisa Vittozzi, who took the lead right from the start, imposing a fairly sustained pace on the group. Italy maintained the lead at the end of the second stage, thanks to a solid performance by Nicole Gontier. The Valle d'Aosta in the most important moment of the season and with all eyes on her she found an unprecedented "zero" at the shooting range and kept a very competitive step on skis. Exit from the stand with a 14 "lead, on the last lap she tried to defend herself from the comeback attempts of the American Egan, who reached her a few tens of meters from the exchange area. In third place with a gap of 16 "the Ukraine has passed, while the favored nations on the eve have remained more delayed. Sweden and Norway paid 23 "and 27" respectively, Germany 1'38 ". Negative race for France which crashed 17th place at 2'34 ". The third stage was decisive for the fate of the race and the selection was further increased. Sweden, thanks to an amazing test of its less expected relay runner, Anna Magnusson, took the lead with a good advantage over all the opponents. The twenty-three-year-old home athlete, after covering all the targets with precision, delivered a 17 ”lead over the USA into the hands of Hanna Öberg. Good fraction also for Ukraine which remained in third position and for Norway, which despite a penalty round of Eckhoff, remained in the fight for the podium. Germany with Herrmann recovered about 35 "on the head and four positions. Instead, Italy lost all possibility of medal, slipped into 10th place at the end of a negative performance, especially in the standing series, by Alexia Runggaldier. The 15 km world champion has approached her own hard work to all, gaining several seconds with the pursuers. After making a couple of errors on the ground, which she quickly remedied with refills, she then presented herself to the final series with a margin of twenty seconds on Marte Olsbu Røiseland. At the decisive moment, however, the young Swede felt the weight of the pressure. Öberg has indeed made a mistake and then avoided the penalty round only with the third refill. The Norwegian, on the other hand, with a very fast "zero" put the arrow and flew towards the gold medal. Öberg has at least avoided throwing the medal and defended the silver with the last top-up. At the finish line the Swede preceded the Ukrainian Valj Semerenko. The complete report soon.
