At 4.30 pm Italian time the start of the women's Sprint (bis) of Kontiolahti. Five blue in the race, the same ones already seen in last weekend's opening: Dorothea Wierer, winner on Saturday of the Individual that opened the 2020/21 World Cup, Lisa Vittozzi, Federica Sanfilippo, Nicole Gontier and Irene Lardschneider.

The debut stage was illuminated by Dorothea Wierer's victory in the 15 km, but the Italian team overall showed lights and shadows. The Sprint bis of Kontiolahti will therefore be useful to look for confirmation, especially as regards the physical condition, not yet at the best after a "cold start" without races in the legs.
It will not be easy for Dorothea to keep pace with Scandinavian Oeberg and Roeiseland, who seem to be in top form and a step above their rivals. The aim will be to limit the damage in order to stay in the slipstream in the overall standings and come to Hochfilzen with a good number of points. In addition to the two Scandinavians, Denise Herrmann is also a candidate for a leading role, returning from a second place in the 15 km and a disappointing performance in the first Sprint.

Confirmations also needed by Lisa Vittozzi who, after a bad debut shooting in the Individual, redeemed herself in the Sprint, finding "zero" but ending up far from the top positions. Today's race could be the right opportunity to close the circle and return to the protagonist. The goal of the points area instead for Federica Sanfilippo and Nicole Gontier, with the former appearing to be further ahead in the condition. To close the Italian quintet there will be Irene Lardschneider, who with a good performance could earn a place in the relay on Saturday.
