The world championship will always be held from 5 to 14 February 2021, but no longer in the US location due to the Covid emergency.

As with almost all of the winter disciplines, the North American stages see the appointments at the World Cup and World Cup level canceled and rescheduled in the old continent. If sledding still awaits the new home of the world championships, which will not be held in the Canadian town of Whistler, today the decision of the IBSF (International Federation of Bobsleigh and Skeleton) has arrived to move, obviously due to uncertainties and problems related to Covid, the world championship event from Lake Placid (in the state of New York, with eleven World Championships hosted in the past) in Altenberg. In Germany, therefore, bobsleighs and skeletons will experience their World Championships on the same dates scheduled, from 5 to 14 February 2021: "It was a difficult decision because Lake Placid was the ideal venue for such an important event - explained Mike Said, president of the US federation - but we are already working to get the World Cup back to the United States as soon as possible ”.
