A great success, with the public and participants, for the recruitment campaign of the Italian skeleton and bobsleigh teams on an artificial track. After the appointments in Padua, Imola and Albisola (SV) of the past weeks, which registered the participation of about fifty candidates, the "Bob & Skeleton Open Push Day" tour ended in Milan at the Arena Civica "G . Brera ".
An important opportunity for those wishing to face the adventure of two of the most adrenaline-pumping disciplines at FISI. The tests were organized by the technicians of the Italian national teams and included speed, strength and thrust tests thanks to the use of a simulator trolley and which saw the participation of boys aged between 18 and 22 years from especially from track and field and weightlifting. The minimum physical requirements required to access the tests were as follows: as regards the "Elite" category of the bobsleigh, men must be at least 1.85 tall, weigh between 90 and 110 kg and be born between 1990 and 2000.
Same dates of birth also for women, for which a minimum height of 1.70 and a weight between 70 and 78 kg is required. Then there is the "Development" category, for both the bobsleigh and the skeleton, aimed at the youngest talents, born between 2000 and 2004. In this case, men must have a height greater than 1, 80 and a weight between 75 and 80 kg. The women needed a height of at least 1.65 and a weight over 62 kg.
Satisfaction in the words of the technical director Maurizio Oioli for the recruitment campaign: "Fourth and last appointment, even if we would like to have the possibility, perhaps in the future, to add another stage, of which we are happy for the participation that there was , with a good response in terms of numbers as well as in terms of quality. We have found some interesting athletes and we will evaluate which ones we really want to invest in, to start a path with them. Some athletes have proved to be very prepared, not all of them may have the basis to run fast immediately, not coming from athletics, but we have carried out a series of tests to demonstrate the other qualities such as explosive strength or the trolley test. to see if they have a specific predisposition.
An excellent response also from the members of the national teams, with Valentina Margaglio always present at every stage, and with the participation in Milan of Robert Mircea and Alessandra Fumagalli, to ensure that at least one of the participants in the Beijing Olympics is always present. 2022 and to make the children understand what the point of arrival must be ".
