Yesterday, the first day on the slopes in La Parva for Paris and the Italian downhillers. Deromedis & Co. also joined them

Work has begun for the Italian downhillers of the men’s World Cup team, a long and crucial period of preparation ahead of the competitive season. Having arrived in Chile, they held their first training session on the slopes of La Parva on Monday morning, in perfect weather conditions.

From Dominik Paris to Mattia Casse, from Florian Schieder to Christof Innerhofer, as well as Alliod, Bosca, Abbruzzese, Bernardi and Perathoner, along with returning athletes Molteni and Zazzi, and Franzoni, who is due to arrive from Ushuaia, where the Olympic downhill silver medallist and King of the Streif completed the first part of his South American preparation.

Also joining them, having already been training since last weekend, are the athletes (and the women, with Jole Galli and Andrea Chesi) from the core Italian skicross team, led by Olympic gold and silver medallists Simone Deromedis and Federico Tomasoni.

There is no doubt that this is a particularly significant week for the Italjet speed specialists, and next weekend even more so, as it is the first time that the national-team athletes have returned to the Chilean resort since the death of Matteo Franzoso. That tragedy occurred following the accident suffered by the Ligurian athlete during a training run at La Parva on Saturday, September 13, 2025, under safety conditions that were unacceptable, it is important to remember, with Franzoso dying in Santiago, Chile, on the extremely sad Monday of September 15, 48 hours later.
