Bobsled Olympic champion Bernhard Germeshausen dies

He was Olympic champion in 1976 and 1980 as well as world champion in that decade.

Bernhard Germeshausen passed away at the age of 70 after a long illness yesterday, Olympic champion with the GDR. The German hobbyist has collected several important results in his professional career, including four Olympic medals between Innsbruck 1976 and Lake Placid 1980 with three gold and one silver scores between four-man and two-man bob. In his palmares three world titles are added to Sainkt Moritz in 1977 and Cortina D'Ampezzo 1981 in the four-man bobsleigh, and in the two-man bobsleigh in the same Italian location again in 1981. He closes the circle of medals in the four-man bob with silver world championship at Konigsee in 1979 and bronze medal at Lake Placid in 1978.
