Baumgartner leads a group that is already preparing for the Olympic season.

Eight have been called up by the sporting director of the Italian bobsleigh team, Maurizio Oioli, for the first athletic rally of the season scheduled in Mondovì, from Sunday 16th to Saturday 22nd May.
Patrick Baumgartner, Enrico Ghilardini, Eric Fantazzini, Alex Pagnini, Mattia Variola, Lorenzo Bilotti, Alex Verginer and Costantino Ughi will be involved, followed by coach Giovanni Mulassano. The first stage of the 2021/22 World Cup, which will then lead to the great Olympic goal of Beijing 2022 in February, is scheduled for 15 to 21 November in a location yet to be determined.
