Second day and second victories for the United States and Canada in Group A of the women's hockey tournament, the North American powers exceed Switzerland and Finland respectively.

Particularly the bombastic nine to zero with which the United States submerge Switzerland. The game actually lasts ten minutes, then taking the lead by Monique Lamoureux kick off the goleada. The first period ends five to zero, with the other four goals scored by Brianna Decker, Amanda Kessel (two for her) and Hilary Knight. One goal in the second period, again made by Lamoureux during the fourteenth minute, while the last three are made in the third period from Kendall Coyne (the first two) and Alex Carpenter.
Harder instead the success of Canada: the first two periods conclude, in fact goalless, and it is only during the ninth minute of the third period that Meghan Agosta-Marciano unlock the situation, paving the way to her companions. Jayna Hefford and Meaghan Mikkelson round the result in the final minutes, allowing the defending champions remain unbeaten in both performance and the goals conceded.
The ranking of the Group A sees the United States and Canada to six points, with Finland and Switzerland logically zero. Consequently, the two big favorites for the gold medal are already qualified for the semifinals, Wednesday in the match will be played on the first place in the group in what most likely will be a taste of the final tournament.
