"Chicco" Pellegrino leads the blue patrol for the World Championships in Obestdorf: twenty athletes have been called up

The FISI has communicated the list of twenty cross-country skiers (eleven men and nine women) who will take part in the world championship event, scheduled from 24 February to 7 March.

Two days after the start of the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf, the FISI, with an official statement, announced the twenty athletes who will compete on the German snow. The men's team will have eleven elements. The top man, undoubtedly, will be Federico Pellegrino: the thirty-year-old from Valle d'Aosta, in his sixth world championship participation, is our greatest hope for a medal and in his career he has already won a world title in the 2017 Lahti sprint, as well as two silvers and two bronzes. Another very important element for the blue team will be Francesco De Fabiani, especially in the team sprint key, where he has already obtained a bronze medal at Seefeld 2019. Among the squads we also find a rookie, Simone Mocellini, born in '98. The other blues called up by DT Selle are: veteran Dietmar Noekler, already winner of a silver and a bronze medal in the sprint teams of Lahti and Falun, Maicol Rastelli, Davide Graz, Simone Daprà, Stefano Gardener, Paolo Ventura, Mirco Bertolina and Giandomenico Salvadori. Nine, however, the Italian girls who will be competing in Oberstdorf. The team will be led by the three most experienced athletes: Greta Laurent (''92) at the fifth world experience, Lucia Scardoni (' '91) at the fourth world championship participation and Ilaria Debertolis (''89) at the fifth world championship. Also mentioned are Anna Comarella, Caterina Ganz and the newcomers Nicole Monsorno, Jeantet Emilie, Francesca Franchi and Martina Di Centa, daughter of art of the great Giorgio. The first medals will be awarded on Thursday 25 February, when the sprint in classic will be staged, a race where Pellegrino has an excellent chance of winning a medal.
