Biography: Leonardo David, born on September 5, 1960 in Aosta, was one of the brightest talents in Italian skiing. Winner of the 1978–79 European Cup and a rising star in the World Cup, he was seen as the heir to the Valanga Azzurra. A tragic accident in 1979 in Lake Placid ended his career and eventually led to his passing in 1985.
