They are already arriving in Sochi, to participate in the second weekend of the World Cup in the east, with the brace downhill / super-g on the Olympic slopes of Rosa Khutor, the blue ones that will compete on Saturday and next Sunday (tests at the start already on Wednesday ) in a location that already last year should have hosted the fast races that jumped due to weather, an element that, according to forecasts that threaten snow in the coming days, could cause some problems again.
Compared to the triumphal triptych of Bansko, in Russia there will be no Marta Bassino as planned: despite the double podium in the two speed disciplines on the "Marc Girardelli", it was decided for the Piedmontese a short period of rest and training, to then return on the occasion of the two Garmisch races (always downhill and super-g) on 8-9 February.
So here we will see Federica Brignone, Nicol and Nadia Delago, Elena Curtoni, Francesca Marsaglia, Laura Pirovano, Verena Gasslitter and the returning Sofia Goggia. Everything should be ok for Bergamo, today working with the OrtholabSport team to test a shin guard that will guarantee maximum protection to the right tibia injured with the fall of last Friday: "It is equipped with an empty thickness at height of the shin that allows you to shelter yourself from the blows - explains Sofia herself, who will leave tomorrow for Sochi - I still feel a little pain, but the situation is improving.
The fall? There were no twists in the knees, but I was going at 105 km / h and the skis kept hitting the snow, until I ended up in the nets and I felt the shin pull. Staying for two days did me good, I am ready to leave to make my contribution to this excellent season for our team ".
