After today's spectacular descent, on Garmisch-Partenkirchen's Kandahar 1 it will now be super-g time, for the second and final fastest race of the Bavarian weekend.
And even more than in the queen discipline, on Sunday the blue will start with the favors of the prediction in a race very suitable for their characteristics and on a track designed by Giovanni Feltrin, guarantee of victory or ... almost (remember the super-g of the combined of Zauchensee?). The start tomorrow at 11.15, for the fifth specialty appointment (only the Italian races of La Thuile and Cortina will remain) which will see Federica Brignone defend the leader's red bib, after the brace signed in tandem with Sofia Goggia to Rosa Khutor.
As in Russia, the one who in this specialty was the only one capable of stopping the blues (except for Rebensburg in Lake Louise), that is Mikaela Shiffrin; Brignone has chosen the bib number 9, starting after the same Rebensburg triumph today (the German will have the 7) and before Goggia, who will start for 11th.
The first two blue at the start will instead be Elena Curtoni and Francesca Marsaglia, drawn with numbers 2 and 4 (not really ideal), then we will also see Marta Bassino with 16, and attention to the Piedmontese who could do very well on a very technical track, Nicol Delago (in crisis, without if and without but) with 23, Verena Gasslitter with 33, Laura Pirovano with 49 and Nadia Delago with 51.
In addition to Rebensburg, watch out for Suter (5), although Switzerland should suffer without the high stretch and with much narrower links, but also to the possible restart of the Austrians. The favorites, however, are almost all from Italy ...
