It was the first real party in a year and a half, basically since that post-victory homecoming in Killington (it was November 30, 2019), when the pandemic was not yet current today.
Marta Bassino was embraced not only by her Borgo San Dalmazzo, but by the entire territory to which she is very attached: on Saturday evening in Cuneo, in the square of the former Foro Boario, there was finally the opportunity to toast the triumphs of the blue champion, fresh from the best year of her career with the conquest of the Giant's World Cup and the parallel world title in Cortina.
Thanks to the organization of the ATL del Cuneese, with the same official fan club of Marta as always very active, here is a colorful, passionate and at the same time simple, but really engaging party. Hundreds of people, in compliance with the regulations in force on the subject of Covid-19, were able to applaud “Bax”, interviewed on stage by an exceptional journalist such as Paolo De Chiesa, from Cuneo like her.
Together with the commentator of Rai Sport (and collaborator of NEVEITALIA), the triumphs of last season were retraced, from the first in Soelden to the second gem in Courchevel (with the exit in the second giant, when Marta seemed launched towards a another victory), up to Kranjska Gora's double and the home World Cup which, albeit with the disappointment of “her” race between wide doors, saw the 25-year-old Italian conquer a historic gold in parallel.
"I will try to give other emotions, perhaps with the public on the track because it has really been lacking in recent times", said Marta, greeted and rewarded by various Cuneo parliamentarians, as well as by the delegate of the provincial CONI, Claudia Martin, and by the Center Army sportsman represented by Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Farcoz. “Marta is a true example for many children and young people who are approaching winter disciplines”, said Piero Marocco, vice president of FISI who saw his talent grow, at the time of his presidency of the Western Alps Committee.
And then the party bells, the tricolor "big hands" distributed thanks to the initiative of the newspaper "La Stampa" and hundreds of biodegradable blue balloons released into the sky, before the classic cut of the cake.
