A podium identical to the previous day as regards first and third place, occupied twice within 24 hours by Petra Vlhova and Katharina Liensberger. Among them, instead of Mikaela Shiffrin this time Michelle Gisin was inserted, splendid second in Levi's slalom number 2. Yet, for different reasons they are all happy in the post-race that concluded the Finnish weekend, before returning to Zurich (for almost all the athletes) and then thinking about the parallel of Lech / Zuers next Thursday. Including Mikaela Shiffrin, who will in any case have to dissolve the reserve on participation in the Austrian race (so far she has practically only done slalom training), and today she had to settle for fifth position. "It is incredible to be here and to have done two very solid races, so I am really happy with my weekend - Mikaela told Federsci USA - I am grateful to have been able to do these races and be back on the circuit again" . For Michelle Gisin, on the other hand, the best result of her career in slalom arrived (the other podium in December 2019 in Lienz, where she was third), with 31 cents to divide her from her first victory in the CdM. If the ninth podium (with 5 second places) is also worth the second place in the cup overall, after a sprint start similar to that of last season, there are really no regrets for the 26-year-old Swiss. "I knew I had a good first heat, but I didn't think at that level - explained the combined Olympian referring to the best time shared with Vlhova herself - The second was also good, I can only congratulate Petra and I don't really know what to say, because I'm very happy with this result ”. Even Katharina Liensberger's wide smile, double podium in 24 hours and now granite certainty of world slalom, at only 23 years old: “The second heat gave me very good feelings, I'm happy to leave Levi with this, in addition to the result. It was fun and starting the season with two podiums is obviously incredible ”. And next Thursday, for her it will be practically the home race in her Vorarlberg.
