In Levi everything is already ready and there are three women in particular who are the most eagerly awaited for the second women's race of the maximum circuit after the success of Alice Robinson in the giant of Soelden. With the withdrawal of Frida Hansdotter and the doubts related to the presence of Katharina Liensberger for the well-known case related to materials, there is no doubt that Mikaela Shiffrin, Petra Vlhova and Wendy Holdener depart, probably in this order, with the favors of the prediction for take the reindeer home (in reality it remains to live in the Lapp area) as a gift to the winner on the "Black Levi". Like last year, the US superstar will remain at home until the days before the test in Finland, to better train at Copper Mountain in view of the Killington events and in particular of the Lake Louise fast races; just think that the coach of Shiffrin, Mike Day, twelve months ago proposed to the three times winner of the World Cup to skip the opening for the slalom, since he will have to face a double flight overseas in a few days and with all the problems of the case (almost no other athlete, in fact, opts for this tour de force). However, Mikaela decided to be with Levi (winning, of course), which she will do this year too, taking on a workload and stress with the clear objective of winning on every front. The first rival to Levi could be Petra Vlhova, who burned Shiffrin for a tenth in the 2017 edition of the Finnish slalom, but certainly did not shine in Soelden (14th) in conditions still not optimal. Back in Slovakia for a few days after having physically trained in Milan in the post-opening week, Petra arrived in Levi in the past few hours and is already testing the hard coat of an already barred track with very low average temperatures (constantly at -15 Â° C) between night and morning). Finally, the good news of the last few hours concerns Wendy Holdener, back on skis after an elbow injury (compound fracture, without the need for an operation) remedied almost two weeks ago in a gym workout: the 26-year-old from Unteriberg is, along with the companions of the Swiss national team, on the Swedish snows of Kabdalis, a destination widely used by slalom specialists in this period. The first sensations? They were good: "I have only a few problems with mobility and strength, but I'm happy to be back already".
