A real mush, for a slalom that once again shows all its flaws, even if the cold and the ideal conditions were there until the end of December, with the “Crveni Spust” prepared in advance as never before.
On the other hand, yesterday's rain and a lot of humidity complicated all the plans of the Zagreb organizers, and here the first heat proposed a track that was practically impossible after thirty, if not earlier. At 16.00 we will start again with many unknowns, thinking about the holes in which the big players will fight, which in any case have dug an important gap on all of them.
And the blue ones? We will have three for the decisive heat, as in Semmering, with the only difference that Federica Brignone (absent today) gives way to Martina Peterlini, 29th and with a great chance in hand to get back to getting important points as in the first slalom of Levi. Of course, the young woman from thirty is anything but at the top with little training due to the back injury that has been dragging on since the beginning of autumn, but in these conditions anything can really happen even in the top 15, which Martina conquered right on the Sljeme hill in the 2020 edition, coming back from the 29th position ...
Marta Rossetti, 19th at 2 ”80, can still go up some useful positions also for her WCSL (already today she started with 21), even if improving again the top result in her career obtained in Semmering will be anything but simple. And then in the top ten is Irene Curtoni, up front thanks to the number 9, but with a reduced gap (35 cents) from Holdener's 5th place, with 1 ”82 from Vlhova. The regrets, on the other hand, are still those of Lara Della Mea, who traveled for the qualification before derailing on the final wall, while there was now very little to do for Anita Gulli and Carlotta Saracco, who should have a new chance next time January 12 in Flachau.
Hoping that on that Austrian night we can at least ski with high numbers ...
