For Livio Magoni the adventure with Meta Hrovat begins: "Potential also in slalom, from June to the Stelvio"

In Ljubljana, the Slovenian federation announced the choices for the 2021/22 season. In the women's team here is the Bergamo coach, who will follow in particular the slalomgigantista already four times on the podium in the CdM. We talked with him about Meta's prospects ("also in super-g, but it will take time there) and about the new project of the" Magoni International Ski Team "which will be born soon ...

Only the official status was missing and now it can be said that Livio Magoni will be part of the technical staff of the Slovenia women's national team, at least for the 2021/22 Olympic season and thus giving way to a new adventure after the farewell matured with Petra Vlhova, led to raise the absolute World Cup to the sky of Lenzerheide last March. The new mission of the Bergamo technician, who will collaborate with the other coaches and skimans following Ana Bucik, Tina Robnik and Andreja Slokar, will be to mainly follow the path of Meta Hrovat. Magoni was entrusted with the brightest star of the Slovenian movement: 23 years old, already four times on the podium in the World Cup (always in giant and always finishing in 3rd place), but with a potential yet to be expressed at 100%. The Podkoren slalomgiant runner, the very village that gives its name to the queen track of Kranjska Gora (where it is no coincidence that Meta won two of his four podiums in the maximum circuit), has just returned from a year full of ups and downs, but ended with a nice third place in the giant of the Lenzerheide finals. We talked about the prospects of Hrovat and of a very interesting project that Magoni will launch in the coming weeks, with the person concerned who is already pawing to officially start working with the Slovenian team. "I am happy to discover an athlete like Meta, I have talked a lot with her in these days - the coach from Selvino tells us - There is so much potential from many points of view, even on the mental level since in her growth had to overcome difficult moments, including the serious ankle accident. Giant or slalom? Obviously in the first case she has already obtained four podiums in the cup, but let's remember that between the narrow posts she was junior world champion (twice, in Davos 2018 and in Val di Fassa the following year, ed), even if it is now 48th in WCSL and will have to start outside 30. We will work on it, even if in slalom the reconstruction will not be easy. We have a small team, with myself and the skiman who have been following her for years at Salomon, but I will have good support from the Federation and the possibility of training both individually and in team rallies with the other girls. From 1 June I will have the green light and we will be immediately at the Stelvio. The super-g? We will try it, but only later and it will take time to put in another discipline ”. The agreement is on an annual basis, “even though the federation had already told me about the next Olympic cycle. I prefer to take one step at a time, the certainty is that of having reliable partners, such as Ortholab Sport, Enervit and Human Tecar, but also the facilities of Ladurns and Monte Cavallo ”. And just based in Vipiteno, with training on the reference slopes of that area, Livio Magoni will start the “Magoni International Ski Team” project in the coming weeks. What is it about? “We will give the opportunity to make young people and athletes grow outside the cadres of their respective federations, it is an idea that I have been working on for some time and I want to take care of it with great attention. We will have a gym, swimming pools, a dedicated physio, all that is needed to create a quality school ".
