Alpine Skiingmen's european cup

In Santa Caterina Valfurva we are already working hard: the men's European Cup returns on 6-7 December

On the "Deborah Compagnoni" there will be two super-gs for what is now a traditional stage of the continental circuit. We start with the natural snow that arrived last weekend.

Santa Caterina Valfurva is a regular destination for agonists of all levels, who often meet in Alta Valtellina to train and compete. The Deborah Compagnoni slope - which celebrates the native champion of the country that is located between Bormio and the Gavia Pass - has been at the center of major alpine skiing events several times, with numerous stages of the World Cup in recent years. The locality of Valtellina, in just under a month, will once again be the protagonist by hosting the European Cup once again. In fact, on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 December, two men's super-gs are scheduled to inaugurate the racing season in Santa Caterina Valfurva, while the opening to the general public is scheduled for Saturday 2 December. Another exciting challenge for Omar Galli and Maurilio Alessi, who have been involved for years in organizing the major events included in the calendars of the International Federation. Santa Caterina Valfurva will host the continental circuit for the fourth consecutive time, after a first parenthesis dated 2007 dedicated to both women and men. The Valtellina stage will be the second on the men's calendar, the first in Italy and the first for speed specialists. The seasonal opening is instead scheduled a week earlier in Austria, with two giants scheduled on the slopes of Gurgl. The work to make snow on the race slope has already begun. A few centimeters of natural snow has fallen in recent weeks, now we continue with the help of the snow-making system, waiting for the mercury column to make another leap downwards, allowing for a considerable increase in snow production . The first registrations begin to arrive at the secretariat of Technic Ski, the sports club affiliated with Fisi that will organize the event. It is still too early to know the names of the athletes who will compete on the challenging Valtellina slope, a lot will also depend on who will be called up by the respective federations for the overseas World Cup races. In addition to Technic Ski, Santa Caterina Impianti - with Beppe Bonseri at the forefront - and Proloco Valfurva are also active in organizing the stage of the European Cup. Alongside the event, the support of the Lombardy Region is not lacking.
