The winners of three of the six descents played so far will be missing, and we are talking about none other than Dominik Paris and Matthias Mayer. For different reasons, of course, given that the Austrian has "only" accused a heavy flu state that will force him to skip Saturday's race on Kandahar, but it is certainly a very heavy absence that of the winner on the Streif.
So the seventh men's downhill of the World Cup season, which will start in a few hours with the first of the two tests scheduled in that of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, opens to different predictions on a very technical track like the Bavarian one and who knows, among the nine Azzurri who will be on the track in the training scheduled for Thursday, a great result may emerge in a historic race. We think above all of Mattia Casse, who could do very well on Kandahar, but also of Christof Innerhofer (tomorrow in test with bib number 6) who will decide only on Friday if to play his second seasonal joker after his debut in super-g of Kitz.
It will be above all the last race of Peter Fill, on the track also with Marsaglia, Buzzi, Cazzaniga, Schieder, Bosca and Prast. There will not even be Marco Odermatt, who for now has chosen to sacrifice the descent after the good return to the super-g and will focus everything on the giant on Sunday. If the race is scheduled for Saturday at 11.30, Thursday's training is set at 13.00 as the weather conditions, with the danger of rain, are far from good and will serve tomorrow morning to prepare a Kandahar that can host at least one test.
