Twenty-eight years later Markus Wasmeier, a German skiing myth, was the reference man of the last few years in the Teutonic house, Thomas Dressen, to give Germany a victory on the home snow, those of the stage par excellence of Garmisch- Partenkirchen.
Nevi in the home in the truest sense of the word for the 26-year-old Bavarian, who grew up about fifteen km from Kandahar and has faced a thousand times over the course of his skier route: Dressen is now a downhill certainty and his second seasonal pearl, fourth in career after those of 2018 between Kitzbuehel and Kvitfjell (in the middle the serious injury of Beaver Creek), it has a decidedly special flavor. "Winning here is the best, not even in the most beautiful of dreams I could have hoped for this - the German sprinter said in the post race - I didn't think I had a perfect race, but going down with the 1 is always particular and, slowly slowly that the strongest rivals descended, I understood that maybe it could be done ... ".
With today's one, a decidedly particular series continues with regards to the men's descent: for the fifth race in a row, a home athlete wins, after Paris' one-two in Bormio, Feuz's success in Wengen and Mayer's in Kitzbuehel. The next race will take place in Saalbach on Thursday 13 February, and on a track like this it could be Kriechmayr and Mayer himself to give Austria a home success.
