A black day, and the next ones do not promise better.
After the cancellation in the European Cup of the Obereggen slalom (in course of work) and of the two female descents that should have been played in San Pellegrino, on the Italian snows came another heavy tile for the most awaited appointment .
In Val Gardena, in fact, it was not possible to compete in the first of the two scheduled trials, in view of the third descent of the World Cup scheduled for Saturday on the Saslong (with super-g on Friday): two and a half hours of waiting, then Markus Waldner he had to raise the white flag, with the fog that made him master especially in the area of the "Humps of the Camel".
The concern is related to temperatures and humidity, with the track (perfectly prepared in recent weeks) that risks a lot thinking about the races, since rain is also expected in the next few hours. Waldner had already said he was worried Tuesday evening, during the captains' meeting, while showing the usual optimism hoping for the weather; the cancellation of the first test, for which the start had already been lowered to the first reserve start, is a further problem since only the day of Thursday remains to play a training.
We will see what the FIS will decide together with the organizers, there could be news already by the afternoon to better manage a very complicated situation.
