Franzoni does not miss a shot in the European Cup: another podium in S. Caterina and consolidated leadership

In the super-g that closed the three-day Valtellina, great 2nd place for the Brescia player (increasingly in command of the general), beaten by only 17 cents by the Swiss Weber. Franzoso is also confirmed as the top ten: now the slalom of Obereggen and Pozza di Fassa.

He had skipped the tests and obviously then the two race descents of the weekend in Santa Caterina Valfurva, being involved in the World Cup in Val d''Isère. Giovanni Franzoni, however, has a particular feeling with the super-g and he demonstrated it again today, climbing again on the podium (fifth of his career, third in the discipline and in the season after the 1st and 2nd place of Zinal between super-g and giant) in the European Cup, of which he is increasingly the leader in the general classification. Despite the lesser adaptation to the “Deborah Compagnoni” compared to those who clearly had four days available to understand the track, the 20-year-old from Brescia attacked without hesitation, arriving just 17 cents from the second seal in the continental circuit. To beat him only the Swiss Ralph Weber, a man of experience already second and third between Saturday and Sunday in the descent, with Christoph Krenn in third place, 4 cents from Franzoni. Another Austrian, Christopher Neumayer, finished fourth at 43 cents, in turn preceding the Swiss Mettler, winner on Sunday, and Roulin, with Koeck 7th and, in eighth place ex aequo with 73 cents late, Marco Pfiffner ( twice second downhill here at S. Caterina) and Matteo Franzoso. Very good the test of the Piedmontese by adoption who, beyond the daring victory of Zinal, is confirmed as a guarantee at excellent levels in the European Cup and can begin to think of having a chance in the World Cup.
