Kranjec scares on the Gran Risa: 1st heat dominant on HK and Braathen, Odermatt far away

Giant number 1 in Alta Badia: the Slovenian has 6 tenths of Kristoffersen, while the master of the CdM finds himself at 1"42. De Aliprandini pays almost 3 seconds.

A monstrous heat, to tame the Gran Risa and become the main favorite for success in the first of the two giants in Alta Badia. On the track, the temple of the speciality, Zan Kranjec demonstrates an amazing condition, on the other hand the two podiums obtained between Soelden and Val d''Isère spoke for themselves: the Slovenian makes a gap at the opening of this third round of the season, trimming 6 tenths from Henrik Kristoffersen, who actually pays for almost everything in the final stretch, from the first to the second "cat's hump", as well as his compatriot Lucas Braathen, 3rd at + 0"73, but the two Norges ski great on the walls and can believe it all right in the comeback from victory in the 2nd heat, starting at 13.30. Schmid and Pinturault remain under a second behind the Slovenian (the German 4th at 79 cents, the transalpine 5th at 92), then a lot of Switzerland but the big surprise is that Marco Odermatt finds himself only in the top ten area, at 1” 42 from Kranjec and also preceded by his compatriots Meillard and Murisier (with an excellent Schwarz between them, seventh): with his red bib, the Nidwalden rider starts with number 1 but is too cautious on the tortuous German-made track. He'll need a masterpiece to continue his streak of podiums in giant slalom. Among the most eagerly awaited big names, Manuel Feller makes a serious mistake on the first hump of the cat who rolls at 1"68, 4 cents behind McGrath who in turn messes up a lot (although starting with number 16, when it was already much more complicated) . A very difficult first heat for Luca De Aliprandini: the Trentino rider, after the two outings at the start of the season, keeps too "comfortable" lines and finishes at 2"89. Qualification will probably come, but it's a big disappointment waiting to see the other blues. (updating)
