With all the pressure of the world, or rather of the nation leading the alpine skiing and still dry of podiums in the male sector, it was Matthias Mayer who gave the Wunderteam the first podium (to which Kriechmayr's third place was added), but above all the first victory of the season with the triumph in the Lake Louise super-g.

Mayer brought Austria back to the top step of the Lake Louise super-g eleven years after Hermann Maier's victory in December 2008, but took the leadership of the overall World Cup standings and found again that success (the sixth in the maximum circuit, third in super-g) that he had missed for a long time, too long for an athlete of his class.
