The new "Val Gardena Suedtirol Ski Trophy" is born: who will score more points in the two races on the Saslong ...

After four editions of the prize assigned together with the organizers of the races in Alta Badia, from this year only super-g and downhill will be worth, scheduled for 18 and 19 December, to take the trophy home.

Since 1969 the Saslong Classic Club has been successfully organizing Alpine Ski World Cup competitions in Val Gardena, without forgetting the 1970 World Championships. In its constant effort to make the races at the foot of the Sassolungo even more professional and attractive, the Gardena Organizing Committee, together with Dolomites Val Gardena Marketing, has created the “Val Gardena Suedtirol Ski Trophy”. The trophy will be awarded for the first time to the skier who will obtain the most points overall in the super-g on Friday 18 December and the following day in downhill. If two athletes have the same number of points, the skier with the best position in the ranking of one of the two races will win. If even in this case a tie occurs, the best result in downhill will decide the victory. “With this initiative as part of our speed races, we want to further incentivize the best downhillers in the world and reward them for their sporting results in both disciplines. In Dolomites Val Gardena Marketing we have found the doors open for this project. We are happy and grateful to have at our side such a strong partner and above all interested in sport, who has always supported us with both advice and concrete actions ”, underlines Rainer Senoner, president of the Saslong Classic Club. “The trophy strengthens the brand and brings it closer to our target group, ie the international ski audience. This not only through the news reported by the media, but also and above all thanks to the winning athlete himself, who shares with his fans the joy of winning the Val Gardena Suedtirol Ski Trophy immediately after the races through social networks, but also in summer, when he will again be a guest in our beautiful valley as part of a short holiday ”, say Ezio Prinoth, Ambros Hofer and Christoph Vinatzer of Dolomites Val Gardena Marketing. By the way, the winner's carved wooden bust will be on public display. It can be admired by all ski enthusiasts in the "Hall of Fame" of the Saslonch refuge. Here are also the busts of Kjetil Jansrud, Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and Rasmus Windingstad, who in the past years have won the Suedtirol Ski Trophy; from 2016 to 2019, in fact, this prize was awarded to the athlete who collected the most points in the four South Tyrolean World Cup races in Val Gardena and Alta Badia. An all-Norwegian domain, who knows that this year will not change things ...
