Among the various meetings scheduled at the FIS spring congress, there is obviously also the one relating to the long-term scheduling of calendars. As reported by the "Blick", any type of agreement between Swiss Ski and the organizers of the Wengen races, scheduled for the next season from 15 to 17 January 2021, has been skipped. Starting from CdM 2022/23, the classic on the Lauberhorn is therefore out from the maximum circuit, given that the Swiss federation chaired by Urs Lehmann (candidate for the number 1 chair of the FIS), by voice of Tom Stauffer, officially asked the FIS to exclude Wengen from the calendar. The issue has been known since 2016 and concerns the division of the "cake" of television rights; Wengen's organizing committee is asking for more revenue and has already turned to the Lausanne TAS, while Swiss Ski has always responded spades. “We have long sought an agreement with the Swiss federation - the organizers of the stage in the Bernese Oberland have communicated today - After a recent provisional ruling by the CAS, I tried again to reach an amicable resolution with Swiss Ski, but we had no response. And now the federation wants the Lauberhorn races to be eliminated from the calendar. " For the sake of skiing and its history, the hope is clearly that a solution will be found for reintegration into long-term calendars: time would be there.
