A real ordeal for one of the greatest sprinters of recent years, perhaps the one who would have been the third wheel between Beat Feuz and Dominik Paris in the great downhill challenges. He has won the World Cup five times despite injuries and a still green age (27), but Thomas Dressen will still have to wait for the actual return to the maximum circuit.
Today the German federsci announced that the Bavarian giant will miss the first two weekends dedicated to speed, namely the triptychs of Lake Louise and Beaver Creek between the end of November and the beginning of December; Dressen, in fact, has not yet returned to skis after the last surgery he suffered, the one on his right knee (the same one destroyed in the Beaver Creek fall in November 2018, ed) last February to remedy the damage to the cartilage, carried out a few days after the stoic attempt to play for a medal at the Cortina World Cup. And as early as November 2020, Thomas was under the knife for a delicate hip operation.
The attempt is to fully recover with the focus directly on the Beijing Olympics, but it is clear that finding the maximum competitiveness within a few weeks will not be easy at all: "My plan is to start skiing at the beginning of December - the words of the German downhill skier - Between mid and late November we will do some tests to understand at what point I will be strong and resistant in terms of knee stress, I will return to the snow only if in ideal conditions and then I will calmly build the best form ".
