Try again a year later, in conditions that could be ... similar. If the Val d''IsÃ¨re slalom did not take place 12 months ago, due to very strong gusts of wind on the Face de Bellevarde, on Saturday starting at 9.30 am we will try to stage the second seasonal specialty race, three weeks after the success of Henrik Kristoffersen at Levi. It will be tough, given that today in the Haute-Savoie area it has snowed in abundance (between 30 and 40 cm), so much so that in addition to skiing on the slopes there is also the public extraction of the bibs; precisely because of the weather forecasts, it was already decided to reverse the male technical races scheduled for the World Cup stage that marks the return to Europe, thus shifting the giant to Sunday morning. The night will be decisive to understand if the organization will be able to clean up and "manage" the Face, with the 1st run scheduled at 9.30 (run designed by the British Glasse-Davies) and the second at 13.00 (drawing by the German Brunner), both live on TV on Raisport and Eurosport. Marco Schwarz will open the dances, first in the group thanks to the absence of teammate Feller, followed by bib number 2 by Yule and with 3 by Pinturault, who won the first of his two World Cup slalom in the far away 2012, just when the races were reversed like this year. The French, however, is back from the lack of qualification of Levi and from the ugly giant of Beaver Creek, as well as Michael Matt needs redemption, at the start with 4. For Ramon Zenhaeusern, 4th in Levi's opening, number 5 first of the two big favorites, Henrik Kristoffersen and ClÃ©ment Noel who will close the first group. The Norwegian burned the French for 9 cents in Finland, but above all he has a great relationship with Face, where he won in 2015 and 2016, finishing 2nd behind Marcel Hirscher (who had preceded in the two previous editions) in the ' last slalom disputed in Val d''IsÃ¨re two years ago. Noel, for his part, has risen from a position with respect to Levi, once his back problems have been resolved, also testing the race track last week in training, along with the Azzurri. Jacques Theolier's boys will be nine in the race, the same as three weeks ago: new draw for Manfred Moelgg and Stefano Gross, who in the second sub-group have caught 9 and 10, while Giuliano Razzoli will start with 16 and needs of points after the "zero" of Levi, thinking above all of the classics of January. Who wants to improve again is Alex Vinatzer, 12th in Levi on the day of the best career result and bib 25 for the challenge to the Face de Bellevarde; out of the 30 here is Maurberger, called to launch a signal with the 33, Tommaso Sala that will start with the 39 and is in full confidence after the victory in the European Cup to Funesdalen (and the podium also in giant), finally Tonetti with the 48, Liberator with 54 and Fabian Bacher to close with 64, the last one at the start.
