Simon Maurberger's dreams and ambitions: "Bike and gym, recovery goes on as I hoped"

The South Tyrolean slalomgigantista, who stopped at the best moment of his career, is already looking forward to returning in the next season.

It was perhaps the most beautiful revelation of the men's Italsci in the 2019/2020 vintage, constantly fighting for the top ten first in slalom and in parallel, but also in giant. On the most beautiful, Simon Maurberger had to stop for the crash to the crusader of his right knee, injured in the parallel giant of Chamonix last February 9, just a few days after the fantastic 5th place obtained in the Schladming slalom. The '95 class born in the Ahrntal valley spoke about his recovery at fisi.org, saying he was confident for a return to full speed: "For having spent relatively little time since the injury, I can say that I am satisfied - says the young man South Tyrolean - I can do several bike rides, go to the gym four times a week and do many exercises, let's say that in a couple of months I should be at the top ". There is no lack of regrets for the stop when everything seemed to be perfect: “I was skiing well, physically I was doing wonderfully, the team atmosphere was clear, it was a real stroke of bad luck. But I will not give up: the program will be to start again hand in hand with slalom and giant, it is important to carry on both because it allows me to alternate the specialties, when the time for the races will come we will evaluate the situation. I would like to pick up where I got on the slalom, I miss the contact with my teammates, the staff and the whole environment. We only hope that the situation will improve, our way of life will certainly be a little different in the coming months, but we will adapt. I hope to return as soon as possible to race in front of the 50000 spectators of Schladming and to be a protagonist in front of the Italian fans at the World Championships in Cortina ".
