The renouncement is now official: Christof Innerhofer and Matteo Marsaglia cannot make it to recover in time for the fast races of Lake Louise and will not take part in the descent of Saturday 30 November and the super-g of Sunday 1 December, in the weekend of opening the World Cup for jet men.
The 34-year-old from Gais, fresh from the long post-injury recovery of the left knee crusader, suffered last March at the Cortina Assoluti, has only put back a few days, during training at Copper Mountain, speed skis and clearly does not have the condition to compete at the highest level, on that track where a year ago he took 2nd place in the inaugural descent.
"Inner" will therefore continue to work on the Colorado snows, as well as Matteo Marsaglia who was injured instead a few days ago, getting a strong sprained left ankle; the Piedmontese of adoption should make it for the races of Beaver Creek (6-7 December super-g and descent), where Innerhofer will also debut.
There will therefore be only five Ghidoni men competing in Alberta: Dominik Paris at the helm, returning Peter Fill and Emanuele Buzzi, as well as Mattia Casse and Federico Simoni, given that the injured Davide Cazzaniga was unable to fly in North America , which will miss both Lake Louise and Beaver Creek not taking advantage of the fixed place in the World Cup.
