A perfect “Stelvioâ€, the one that the FIS managers found, led by Hannes Trinkl, on the occasion of the usual inspection for snow control that clearly gave a positive result, towards the men's World Cup races in Bormio, set for Saturday 28 December with the fourth seasonal downhill run and Sunday 29 with the first alpine combined of the season.
In the eyes the 12-month-old double with Dominik Paris to dominate and celebrate with Christof Innerhofer on the podium, on a simply wonderful track that is in very good condition also this year, despite the high temperatures of the last days. The Bormini organizers have stocked a good amount of snow at 2000 meters, usable in case of need: "There is plenty of snow and the bottom is well compact - explains race director Omar Galli - Now we wait for the December 22 to decide how to operate, or whether to wet or not the track based on temperatures, and deliver to the athletes a perfect Stelvio for the first test, scheduled for December 26th â€.
The blue ds Massimo Rinaldi was present at the inspection: “Trinkl congratulated the organization for the excellent preparation of the fund and above all for the huge quantity of snow produced. He therefore gave the directives for the jumps: the Rocca, Fontana Lunga and the Ciuk, especially the latter with a "wind" line useful in case of disturbances.
Now it will be important to check the weather forecasts - concludes Rinaldi - At the moment they give substantial rain up to 2000 meters of altitude in the coming days, so from the start of the super-g there will be a sort of natural bar. The difficulty will be to get on the track with the snow groomer at the right time, to make the track uniform and mill it in depth to give consistency to the bottom â€.
