Pinocchio sugli Sci
The 36th edition of Pinocchio Sugli Sci, the young alpine skiing festival founded in 1981 in honor of the famous Collodi puppet, the most loved in Italy and one of the 5 most important in the world, is about to come to life.

The 2018 edition, after more than 8,000 athletes competing, 20 ski resorts involved and over 30 days of zone selection in search of the emerging talents of Italian skiing, will reach the final stages from 17 to 24 March when in Tuscany at Abetone ( PT) the highly anticipated National and International Finals will be staged. From 17th to 21st March it will be time for the National Finals: on the Stadio da Slalom and Zeno Colò 3 - Variants will be the winners of the national selections reserved for the male and female categories U9, U10 , U11, U12, U14 and U16. A total of 1754 young athletes from all over Italy who will compete to win the prestigious Pinocchio d'Oro, the prestigious title of national winner of the category and a place in the Pinocchio d'Oro with the likes of Deborah Compagnoni , Lara Magoni, Morena Gallizio, Daniela Ceccarelli, Jure Kosir, Urska Hrovat, Karen Putzer, Janica and Ivica Kostelic, Nadia and Elena Fanchini, Tina Maze, Patrick Staudacher, Max Blardone, Davide Simoncelli, Federica Brignone, Giuliano Razzoli, Peter Fill, Marcel Hirscher, Lara Gut, Elena and Irene Curtoni, Anna Veith, Sofia Goggia, back from the success in the World Cup, and many other young people who are already part of the international "white circus". From 22 to 24 March the International Phase will be held : the best blue athletes of the Ragazzi and Allievi categories will become part of Team Italia and will challenge 35/40 foreign delegations in the race (registrations still open). The International Finals as per tradition will be opened on March 22nd by the Opening Ceremony with the parade of Italian and foreign contingents competing along the Abetone center. The participation of Teams from Chile, Canada, Ireland, France, Holland, Finland, Portugal and Slovenia has already been confirmed. "Once again the Montagna Pistoiese hosts the young promises of skiing and for eight days the Abetone returns to dress the title of Capital of the Juvenile Alpine Skiing ", declared Franco Giachini, President of the Ski Club Pinocchio of Pescia and patron of the event. "It has not been an easy year for Pinocchio, because the weather and atmospheric events have made the organizers' work over the 30 days of zone selection difficult but we did not get discouraged and in the end everything was done in full compliance with the regulation, with the usual air of fun and party that has distinguished Pinocchio since its debut ". Among the important technical innovations of the 2018 edition of Pinocchio Sugli Sci there are the number of athletes in the Boys and Students categories admitted to the National Finals: in addition to 20 representatives of the Team Italy another 40 Italian athletes will take part in the International Finals (10 males and 10 females for the Boys category and 10 males and 10 females for the Students category), without being part of the national contingent.
