The "Gigant" of Alta Badia is a work placed on top of Piz La Ila, conceived by the well-known Biellese artist Daniele Basso, representing a skier in mirror-polished steel. In the past few hours, the statue was illuminated during the dusk with the Italian tricolor to give a positive signal of hope and unity; a metaphorical embrace and a message of support for all people in difficulty in this period of isolation and social estrangement, as well as a silent signal from the top of the mountain, which would like to make everyone feel like giants, as are those who fought and are fighting on the front lines to defeat Covid-19. The initiative was promoted and implemented by Movimënt Alta Badia in collaboration with the FIS Ski World Cup Alta Badia Organizing Committee. The artist Daniele Basso also wanted to make his contribution to this project: "Mimetic and reserved like badioti, he celebrates the universal values of sport in skiing.
