Kjetil Jansrud hard on the Cortina 2022 hypothesis: "World championship moved a year? It doesn't make any sense"

The reigning champion spoke to NRK of the hypothesis that would bring the Italian event a few weeks after the Beijing Olympic Games.

He has every intention of being there, to defend that world title won in Are 2019. Probably, however, Kjetil Jansrud will have to wait until March 2022 to still play the iris in speed, after the request for movement made official at the beginning of the week by FISI, Coni and Fondazione Cortina 2021. The captain of the Norge team, as in truth almost all the athletes and experts who have expressed themselves on the subject, do not like the possible placement of the next world championships in the season that would see them played shortly after the Beijing Olympic Games. On Norwegian TV NRK, the Scandinavian veteran spoke clearly: "I think it won't happen, we can't compete in a World Cup immediately after the Olympics, it doesn't make any sense." Still, the proposal of the Italian organizers has a good chance that the FIS council on 1st July will ratify it in a positive way, with the shift that would avoid the risk of having to manage an event still in an emergency pandemic and, in case of cancellation, with a huge economic damage for all parties. The battle will be played as always on the political level: another month and we will know, but if the voice of the athletes mattered, certainly the 2021 Cortina World Cup would not become ... 2022.
