The inevitable FIS decision: South American Cup races canceled until the end of August

It will not compete in Chile and Argentina, while the Australian New Zealand Cup should regularly start on 23 August.

An inevitable decision, arrived after the closure of practically all the ski resorts of South America, so much so that no national team will be able to go to train in Chile and Argentina at least until September (and hardly anyone will get there in the autumn). The International Federation has officially canceled all the FIS races and the South American Cup races scheduled until the end of August; in the first case, it was the Chilean tests of El Colorado and La Parva, in the second about twenty races in various locations (starting from those of 8-9 August in Chapelco), in the reference summer circuit which, at present current calendar, only the events of Corralco, in Chile, from 7 to 11 September, and on the Argentine snow of Cerro Castor, from 21 to 25 of the same month are still scheduled. Instead, the Australian New Zealand Cup 2020 should start in exactly one month, with the opening scheduled at Coronet Peak from 23 August; in New Zealand the situation linked to Covid, as is known, is resolved (and hopefully it will remain) and the training of various athletes, including Alice Robinson herself currently engaged in the snow of Mount Hutt, continue regularly. It is equally clear that almost all European, North American and other athletes will not take part in these tests which are worth a lot in terms of FIS points.
