Today the female giant was a cold shower and now it will be up to the men, considering the minimal chances related to next Saturday's pink slalom, to try to bring at least one medal in the "classic" disciplines. Starting with the gigantists on track tomorrow (at 10 and 13.30 the two heats on the “Labirinti”), with Luca De Aliprandini representing the best medal card for the Italian team.
With the Trentino, already protagonist in parallel, there will be Giovanni Borsotti, Riccardo Tonetti and, as announced by the person concerned even before disputing the combined last Monday, by the 19 year old Giovanni Franzoni who will thus experience his third race in this World Championship. On the other hand, the one who will never make his debut in this world championship is Filippo Della Vite, the only one of the 24 Azzurri not to take to the track despite the convocation and the idea of fielding him at least in the team event: the 2001 class from Bergamo was not used, despite the strong growth shown in the giant in the last European Cup races.
There remains some doubt about the women's formation to be deployed in slalom (on Sunday instead among the men we will obviously see Moelgg, Vinatzer, Gross and Razzoli); together with Irene Curtoni and Martina Peterlini there should have been Lara Della Mea and Federica Brignone. The Tarvisian, as known, was injured yesterday in the team event (out for the rest of the season with the broken crusader) and will leave room, waiting only for the official FISI home, to Anita Gulli from Turin, in the points (28th) in the Flachau slalom alone, the last played in the World Cup.
As for Brignone, after another disappointment suffered today in the giant, the Aosta Valley only needs to confirm the will to try to play a small chance between the tight posts, also to try to improve (in case she should finish among the top 15 ) his situation at the level of specialty WCSL, thinking from a World Cup perspective. At the same time, we must already prepare for the next appointment with the maximum circuit, which will return next Wednesday with the first test of the descents in Val di Fassa.
