Seventeen Azzurri for seven races in the space of four days, a real feast with the speed of the World Cup, and even the weather should help after the half disaster experienced between Killington and Lake Louise.
The convocations in Italy for the "long" weekend are official, both in Lake Louise, where the girls will be protagonists of two descents and a super-g from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 December (with three tests scheduled, the first already tomorrow), and in Beaver Creek for the jet men who will face even four challenges with the Birds of Prey, from the super-g on Thursday and Friday to the descents on Saturday and Sunday (a recovery of Lake Louise).
In Canada, among the eight blue at the starting gate, there will be the return of Nicol Delago more than a year after the injury (1 December 2020) remedied in Solda, with the rupture of the Achilles tendon of the young Val Gardena who , right on the Olympic Downhill, she gave herself the first podium in super-g in the last race held there, in 2019. Sofia Goggia is clearly the reference point of the speed team, she already on the podium twice in Lake Louise even if, perhaps, it is not exactly the most loved track by the Bergamo champion. Podio, the only one so far of her journey in CdM, which Francesca Marsaglia also got downhill two years ago, obviously among the squads after having worked well at Copper Mountain, together with Federica Brignone, Nadia Delago, Elena Curtoni, Roberta Melesi and Karoline Pichler.
In Canada there will not be, as already planned to work in giant optics and the same super-g of Sankt Moritz on 11-12 December, Marta Bassino.
From Alberta to Colorado, from Canada to the United States, for the Beaver Creek stage there will be the same 9 Azzurri who were able to compete only one descent at Lake Louise, with Pietro Zazzi and Nicolò Molteni (who had been chosen for his debut in CdM in super-g ...) remained in the pits last Saturday. In addition to Bormino and Como, at the start for the only test scheduled on Wednesday on the "Birds of Prey", decisive for selecting the 7 athletes for the two descents (8 bibs available in super-g), here is Dominik Paris , Christof Innerhofer, Mattia Casse, Emanuele Buzzi, Matteo Marsaglia, Guglielmo Bosca and Riccardo Tonetti.
